DATE – Wednesday Jan. 20

TIME – 8 p.m. Eastern

As Golden State cruises toward a potential record-setting win total in the 2015-16 NBA season, it likely will need to continue winning on the road at close to its current pace. That makes Golden State’s mid-January three-game Midwest road trip, which concludes with the Warriors-Bulls game, especially important.

ESPN will televise the Golden State-Chicago game from Chicago at 8 p.m. Eastern. It will be the second of two Warriors-Bulls contests this season, as Golden State won the first game Nov. 20, 106-94.

Both the Warriors and Bulls have had strong starts to the NBA season, but Golden State is on a record-setting pace approaching the season’s mid-point. Golden State lost only twice in its first 37 games.

As Golden State attempts to set an NBA record for wins in a season, the Warriors and Bulls franchises share a connection. The 1995-96 Chicago team posted a 72-10 record, which is the NBA’s best of all time. Golden State is clearly on pace to set a new record, thanks to its great first half of the 2015-16 season.

The 1995-96 Chicago Bulls also hold the NBA’s best record for road wins, collecting a 33-8 record. Both of Golden State’s losses before its road trip for the Golden State-Chicago game occurred away from home, as the Warriors lost 108-95 at Milwaukee in mid-December and 114-91 at Dallas in late December. Still, Golden State remains on track for a potential NBA record for road wins.

While Chicago hasn’t started the season quite as strongly as the Warriors, the Bulls are easily among the top five teams in the Eastern Conference in terms of win total. The Bulls are also among the top three teams in the East in scoring at more than 102 points per game. Golden State is averaging more than 114 points per game.

In the first Golden State-Chicago game, the Warriors pulled away in the fourth quarter en route to the 12-point win. Stephen Curry led Golden State with 27 points in the win, while Harrison Barnes had 20 points and nine rebounds. Jimmy Butler of the Bulls led all scorers with 28 points to go with nine rebounds.

Golden State won at Chicago last season, 112-102. Chicago leads the all-time Warriors-Bulls series, 86-70, including playoff games.
