Seahawks vs 49ers NFL Network Week 7 Pick

One of the NFLs best rivalries the past few years between the Seahawks and 49ers may have lost some importance with slow starts by both teams this season, but theres enough lingering bad blood between them that the Week 7 Thursday Night Football game should still have plenty of interest.

CBS and the NFL Network will co-broadcast the Seahawks-49ers TNF game from Levi Stadium in Santa Clara at 8:25 p.m. Thursday.

Both the Seahawks and 49ers sit at 2-4 entering their Week 7 game. And while San Francisco may have figured to struggle a bit under a new coach, two-time defending NFC champion Seattle expected to be strongly challenging for a third straight Super Bowl berth.

Surprisingly, Seattles defense has been its biggest question mark entering the Seahawks-49ers game, as the Seahawks have given up a fourth-quarter lead in each of their four losses. Last Sunday, undefeated Carolina scored on a touchdown pass with 32 seconds remaining to edge the Seahawks, 27-23.

One thing that differentiates the Seahawks and 49ers entering their TNF game is the fact that Seattle has played a more difficult schedule than the Niners. Seattle has played – and lost to – three of the NFLs five undefeated teams in Green Bay, Cincinnati, and Carolina. San Francisco has lost to Green Bay as well, and the Niners other three losses have come to teams with a combined 11-6 record. Certainly, the 49ers have played a tough schedule, but not quite as tough as Seattle, which is 0-3 on the road this season.

San Francisco will enter the Seahawks-49ers game on a bit of an up note, having broken a four-game losing streak last Sunday with a 25-20 win against Baltimore. It was the second home win in three tries for the Niners. Colin Kaepernick had 340 yards throwing, a season high, for San Francisco against Baltimore, and receiver Anquan Bolden surpassed the 100-yard mark in receiving for the second straight game.

The Seahawks and 49ers will play again in Week 11 in Seattle at CenturyLink Field. Seattle leads the all-time Seahawks-49ers series, 18-15, including a 23-17 win in the NFC Championship Game two seasons ago, in which Seattle overcame a fourth-quarter deficit. That victory after the 2013 season helped propel Seattle to its Super Bowl XLVIII championship, a 43-8 blowout win against Denver. Including the win against San Francisco in the NFC Championship game, Seattle now has won three in a row in the Seahawks-49ers series, including a 19-3 win at San Francisco last season.
