It has been a season of firsts for Iowa, including a first-ever 11-0 start and clinching a first-ever berth in the Big Ten Championship Game. But the Huskers hope to turn the tables and hand the Hawkeyes another first – as in a first loss this season – in Friday's Iowa-Nebraska game.

ABC will televise Iowa and Nebraska from Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Black Friday. With a victory Iowa would move into the Dec. 5 Big Ten Championship Game with a chance to clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff. Iowa has already clinched the Big Ten West Division title. But the Hawkeyes will have to find a way to win on the road against a suddenly hot Nebraska team to stay undefeated.

Nebraska, which lost five games before Halloween by a total of 13 points, won back to back games before receiving a bye leading into the Iowa-Nebraska game. Iowa, which defeated Purdue last Saturday, 40-20, will have only five days off before the Iowa-Nebraska game, compared to Nebraska's 12 days off.

After starting the season 3-6, the Huskers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season to date, defeating then-#7 Michigan State, 39-38, Nov. 7. Then the Spartans last Saturday topped defending national champion Ohio State to place themselves directly back into the race for the Big Ten title and the College Football Playoff.

The Huskers will attempt to knock off another Top 10 team at home in the Iowa-Nebraska game. Undefeated Iowa is only on the edge of a Top 4 ranking in the playoff poll primarily because a perceived weak schedule, as Iowa did not play any of the top four teams in the Big Ten East Division in its regular season cross-over games. After the Iowa-Nebraska game, the Hawkeyes will play Michigan State, Ohio State, or Michigan in the league title game. But Iowa does have impressive wins against 8-win Pitt, 9-win Northwestern, and 8-win Wisconsin, the latter two of which came on the road.

The key matchup in the Iowa-Nebraska game could well be the Hawkeyes offense against a Huskers defense that has struggled to hold leads late in games. Iowa has scored at least 27 points in 10 of its 11 games this season, while the Huskers have allowed 23 or more points in eight of 11 games.

The Huskers lead the all-time Iowa-Nebraska series 24-10, including 15-3 in Lincoln, although the Hawkeyes did win in their last trip to Lincoln in 2013, 38-17. Since Nebraska joined the Big Ten and the Iowa-Nebraska game began being played on Black Friday, the Huskers lead the series, 3-1.
