East Carolina vs Central Florida Pick Against The Spread

Two teams looking to snap losing streaks will face off in the Thursday Night Football East Carolina-Central Florida game.

ESPN will televise the TNF East Carolina-Central Florida contest from Orlando at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The 4-6 Pirates have lost three in a row, and they must defeat Central Florida as well as Cincinnati to clinch a bowl bid.

But it's been far tougher for Central Florida. Not only have the Golden Knights started this season 0-10, but long-time Coach George O'Leary announced his resignation after the eighth loss. So the Golden Knights have no bowl bid hopes going into the East Carolina-Central Florida game, but they can play spoiler for ECU's chances at a bowl berth.

Just two seasons after the Golden Knights defeated Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl en route to a 12-1 season, they'll enter the East Carolina-Central Florida game on an 11-game losing streak over two seasons. In fact UCF's last win came late last season in the East Carolina-Central Florida game, in which the Golden Knights won on the road, 32-30.

UCF's offense has been a significant problem in 2015, as the Golden Knights have scored more than 16 points in a game only twice. Unfortunately for the Golden Knights, their defense has been very poor in American Athletic Conference play too, as they've allowed at least 40 points in five of six conference games.

The Pirates could use a shot in the arm on offense in the East Carolina-Central Florida game, as they've struggled of late. East Carolina's offense seemed to be clicking in the middle of the season, as the Pirates scored at least 30 points in a four-game stretch, winning three of them.

But starting with a Thursday Night Football loss against Temple, the Pirates have scored only 44 points total in their last three games, all losses, leaving the Pirates needing a win in the East Carolina-Central Florida game to have a shot at a bowl berth.

Against the top teams in the American Athletic Conference, East Carolina has fared a bit better than the Golden Knights. ECU fell against Temple, 24-14, and against Navy, 45-21, while UCF has a 30-16 loss against Temple and a 59-10 loss against Houston.

The Pirates lead the East Carolina-Central Florida series, 9-4, but Central Florida has won three of the last four games. East Carolina hasn't beaten the Golden Knights in Orlando since 2008, winning 13-10.
