DATE – Sunday Dec. 20

TIME – 8:30 p.m. Eastern

TV – NBC

The Cardinals-Eagles Sunday Night Football game will have playoff implications, but the implications are vastly different for the two teams.

The Arizona-Philadelphia game will kick off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Arizona has already clinched a playoff spot, and can clinch the NFC West Division with a win in the Cardinals-Eagles game. Arizona also is in the hunt for a first-round playoff bye and the number one seed in the NFC.

The Eagles meanwhile will enter the Arizona-Philadelphia game in a first-place tie in the NFC East Division, despite having a 6-7 record. Despite the possibility of the NFC East champion having a .500 or worse record, the divisional champion still would host a Wildcard round playoff game, so the Eagles have plenty on the line in the Sunday Night Football game.

Philadelphia will have to be cautious not to look past the Cardinals-Eagles game, as it will finish the season with two games against fellow NFC East contenders, Washington and the Giants.

Arizona also has a tough stretch of games after the Cardinals-Eagles contest, as it will play at home against Green Bay and Seattle, who are a combined 17-9.

The Cardinals have won seven straight games, including impressive wins over playoff contenders Seattle, Cincinnati, and Minnesota. Quarterback Carson Palmer has been especially strong the past six games, throwing for more than 300 yards in five of them.

The Eagles have won two straight games, including a stunning 35-28 win at New England two weeks ago. That ended a stretch where the Eagles had lost four of five, including consecutive losses by a combined score of 110-50 to Miami, Tampa Bay, and Detroit, who are a combined 15-23.

Philadelphia followed the upset win against New England with a 23-20 win last Sunday at home against Buffalo, which was the first win at home for the Eagles since Oct. 19. Arizona has won four consecutive road games entering the Cardinals-Eagles SNF game and is 6-1 away from home this season.

The Cardinals lead the all-time Arizona-Philadelphia series, 58-56-5. Arizona has won four of the last five games in the series.
