Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland
Cavaliers Pick and Preview
LA Lakers (38-9) at Cleveland
Cavaliers (37-9) – Sunday, Feb. 8 - 3:30 p.m. Eastern - ABC
The individual Kobe Bryant-LeBron James matchup might
overshadow the matchup of the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers teams
Sunday, but it probably shouldn't. Los Angeles and Cleveland own the second- and
third-best records in the NBA this season.
Still, it's always tough to
ignore the Bryant-James matchup when the Lakers and Cavaliers play, and both
superstar players appear to be near the top of their games.
During the
first three games of the Lakers' six-game road trip, Bryant scored 116 points,
including a 61-point effort at the New York Knicks Monday. James, meanwhile,
topped the 28-point mark eight times in 14 January games, and he posted five
double-doubles and three triple-doubles in January.
Season
Results - The Lakers won the first three games of their road trip, and they
were scheduled to play at Toronto Wednesday and at Boston Thursday before
traveling to Cleveland. The Celtics own the NBA's best record, just ahead of the
Lakers and Cavs. Cleveland, meanwhile, has won six of its last seven games
heading into back-to-back games Tuesday against Toronto and Wednesday against
the Knicks. GET THE BEST LINES AT

The first Lakers-Cavaliers game took place just two weeks
ago, as the Lakers drilled Cleveland, 115-88, in Los Angeles on Jan. 19.
Cleveland led Los Angeles by one point at halftime, but the Lakers dominated the
second half. Bryant dislocated a finger during the game, but he still played 41
minutes and scored 20 points with 12 assists. James led Cleveland with 23 points
in 42 minutes, but the Lakers forced him into six turnovers.
Los Angeles
will be without center Andrew Bynum in this Lakers-Cavs rematch, as he suffered
a torn knee ligament in the second game of the Lakers road trip at Memphis.
Bynum had 14 points and six rebounds in the first game against Cleveland in 29
minutes. Los Angeles defeated the Knicks, 126-117, in its first full game
without Bynum.
West Vs. East - In games against Eastern
Conference teams in January, the Lakers were 4-2, losing home games to Charlotte
and Orlando. Los Angeles has made two multiple-game road trips to play Eastern
teams this season, going 0-2 in late December and 2-1 in early December.
In home games against the Western Conference in January, Cleveland was
3-0. In fact, the Cavs are 8-0 this season in home games against the West,
including a 7-1 ATS mark.
Through Monday, Cleveland owned the NBA's best
ATS record this season at 31-15. The Lakers were 23-23 ATS through Monday's
games.
With Monday's win against the Knicks, Los Angeles has won five of
its last six games ATS. Cleveland, meanwhile, is 5-5 over its last 10 games ATS,
going into Tuesday's game against Toronto.
Last season, the Cavs, as a
2-point underdog, defeated the Lakers, 94-90, in Cleveland. The Cavs have won
the last four Lakers-Cavaliers games in Cleveland.
