Celtics vs Bulls Pick & Prediction

NBA pro basketball Saturday, Dec. 12 - 8 p.m. Eastern - NBA TV Boston Celtics (16-4) at Chicago Bulls (7-11)

After last season's thrilling first-round Eastern Conference playoff series between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, fans in Chicago probably had circled Saturday's rematch on the calendar, as Boston is set to make its first trip to Chicago since the playoff series.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, they are in the middle of a stretch of poor basketball, while the Celtics are riding a long win streak. Perhaps the sight of the Celtics in Chicago will be just the thing the Bulls need to jumpstart what has been a very disappointing 2009-10 NBA season so far.

The Celtics and Bulls will play Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern in Chicago, and the NBA TV Network will televise the game.

In last season's playoffs, the Celtics and Bulls played a thrilling seven-game series, with Boston winning, 4-games-to-3. Four of the seven games went into overtime, and five of the games were decided by three points or less.

Even without a win Saturday, Chicago would probably just be happy with a similar close result in the Celtics-Bulls game, because the Bulls haven't had many close games of late. Chicago enters this week having lost seven of its past eight games, and all but one of the losses was by at least 14 points. The Bulls will host New Jersey Tuesday, play at Atlanta Wednesday, and host Golden State Friday before facing the Celtics.

Boston, meanwhile, enters the week on a seven-game win streak, and the Celtics last five wins all were by at least seven points. Boston will host Milwaukee Tuesday and play at Washington Thursday before making the trip to Chicago.

This will be the second Celtics-Bulls game this season. In the first meeting in Boston Oct. 30, the Celtics whipped the Bulls, 118-90. Eddie House had his best offensive game of the season for Boston, scoring 22 points. Paul Pierce added 22 points for the Celtics, while Joakim Noah led Chicago with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

In the first Celtics-Bulls game, Boston was an 11.5-point favorite and easily won ATS.

Chicago enters this week with a 2-7-1 record ATS over its past 10 games. At home this season, the Bulls are 2-4-1 ATS.

Boston enters this week with a 5-5 record ATS over its past 10 games, but the Celtics have won five games in a row ATS. The Celtics are 6-4 ATS on the road this season, but they have won four in a row away from home ATS.
